FOMC - Monetary Policy - Interest Rates

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is the monetary policy making body of the Fed Reserve. You’ll see an announcement on monetary policy come out 8x a year! Each country has their own goals for economic growth (macro and micro), and monetary policy are just policies that ensure they get there.

Just like we talked about in the GDP & Inflation section, monetary policy manages the money supply within the country (interest rates, controlling inflation, making sure the country is still growing).

Investors, Traders, Analysts; basically the entire US… all await monetary policy reports because it allows us to determine the outcome of a specific country’s currency (when it comes to the direction moving forward).

The goal is to maintain low employment, and keep inflation balanced. *Most countries’ monetary policy have similar goals.*
